The loop
A $2,600 fridge, a week without it, a promised replacement reversed within a day into "another repair attempt," and the earliest new appointment a week out — for diagnosis only. That story ran in the news in October 2026 because it is thousands of people's story at once. The loop has a shape, the shape has an exit, and the exit is a count the store will never do for you.
Home Depot's No Lemon Policy, from the official brochure: if the appliance has had two service repairs for the same issue and a third is needed, you are eligible for replacement or reimbursement of the original purchase price plus tax (as a Home Depot eGift Card). One nuance decides arguments: SquareTrade's standard terms frame the count as repairs within any 12-month period, while Home Depot's coverage page says during the protection plan term. If your two repairs straddle a longer span, expect the 12-month reading to be quoted at you — the counter is a dated log and the coverage page's own words.
And if no appointment was offered within 2 days (top-100 metro) or 3 days of your claim, the plan separately owes you a $50 speed-guarantee payment — claim it by name; it is not automatic.
Run your dates and repairs through the checker — it applies both readings of the count and every clock at once.
Count your own case. The free checker takes your store, your plan date, your repair history, and your dates — and returns your lemon count, your live clocks, and the money the plan owes. Run the checker →
The pages above are the map. The kit is the paperwork: the repair log that proves the count, the script for your administrator, and the complaint pack for when the stall continues.
One payment, yours to keep. We never ask for your store or plan-portal password — you file everything yourself. See everything inside the kit →
